Accessory Buildings |
GENERAL INFORMATION Accessory buildings include storage buildings, detached garages, gazebos, or any other structure that is not attached to the house. Accessory buildings that exceed 120 sq. ft. require a building permit. Unless otherwise approved by a Conditional Use Permit, the maximum size of any accessory building on a residential lot serving a residential use shall be 500 square feet, or 25 percent of the size of the primary structure, whichever is less. Conditional use permits are issued by the Planning and Zoning Department. PLANS SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS A copy of a site plan, or your property survey with dimensions indicating the location of the accessory structure on the property. Plans with dimensions indicating how the structure will be constructed. These plans should include foundation plans if a concrete slab is used, elevation drawings with materials used. INSPECTIONS An inspection will be required before any framing, electrical or plumbing is covered up, and upon completion of work FEES AND APPLICATIONS The permit fee for an accessory building is $30.00 per inspection.
